Trent Park, Enfield

Trent Park is a proposed residential development in Enfield, located within Trent Country Park, a Grade II listed Historic Park and Garden.

This development from Berkeley Group will provide 263 new dwellings, community and leisure floor space with associated landscaping and infrastructure. The majority of the proposed development area is located on the site of the former Middlesex University campus. The parkland and gardens retain a strong and defined character as a designed parkland landscape with formal gardens, despite the imposition of the University campus.

The MW Approach

Murdoch Wickham has worked closely with a specialist Historic Landscape Architect to deliver a landscape masterplan that restores the site back to the original setting for the Mansion House. As well as creating an interconnected green grid which joins up the existing landscape assets to create a green web that naturally determines and shapes the character of the development cells.

This primarily sets up a network that loosely creates landscaped east-west and north-south corridors, providing great view lines and optimise development cells to front onto the public realm, enhancing the place-making and value.

The MW Vision

The vision for this landscape-led masterplan was to open up the setting of the Green Belt and Mansion House and restore over 12 hectares of historic landscape. Great effort has been made to ensure that the proposed development nestles sensitively within the landscape so as not to conflict with the setting of the Mansion House. A comprehensive set of agreed viewpoints have been taken to test the visual impact and this has informed the scale and massing of the development in relation to the existing and proposed landscaping.
