Grand Union, West London
Grand Union is a unique and vibrant new canal-side neighbourhood which reconnects the local area to the Grand Union Canal.
Located in Appleton, close to Wembley, Grand Union opens-up and transforms a previously derelict 22 acre site into a stunning new landscape-led destination. Landscape is a key component of Grand Union, green spaces create a welcoming environment, which feels like the heart of somewhere special.

MW’s Illustrative Landscape Masterplan for Grand Union
The landscape proposals for Grand Union have been informed by the history of the site, its context and proximity to the Grand Union Canal as well as the form of the architectural design. Green spaces create a welcoming and beautiful environment that is contemporary in its character and integrated with the existing urban context.

The MW Touch
At the heart of the landscape at Grand Union is a new canal side plaza, with amphitheatre lawns stepping down towards the canal. Central to the piazza an interactive water feature and canal boat sculpture that will form a focal point in the landscape, visible from locations along the towpath and across the Site. Taking advantage of the southern aspect the piazza and lawns will provide opportunities for outdoor events, socialising, sitting and relaxation.
Landscape proposals associated with the new Community Centre will include opportunities for al-fresco café spill-out, a community produce garden and store, external space for the nursery and a play area.
