Farnham Town Centre
Client: Crest NicholsonMurdoch Wickham working in conjunction with the client's design team set about designing the regeneration of a five-hectare site in the centre of Farnham. The proposals seek to create a vibrant extension to the town centre with a new square, pedestrian cobbled streets and the creation of a new 'green lung' park linking the site and town back down to the River Wey.
The design team developed a close working relationship with the Waverley Borough Council and successfully concluded detailed and lengthy consultations with various local community stakeholders and statutory consultees, involving public exhibitions and presentations to interested groups and local councillors. As a result of these negotiations, the council resolved in October 2008 to grant full planning permission for the scheme, a decision subsequently backed by the Secretary of State.
